Summary of Job Purpose and Principal Duties
Job Title: Scottish Diabetes Research Network Manager
Grade of Post/Salary: Grade 8, no higher than point 37 £39,324
Reporting Line Manager: Professor Rory McCrimmon, Clinical Lead SDRN and SDRN Executive Steering Group
Duration of employment: Full-time until 31 March 18
Job Location: Currently in the Diabetes Support Unit, Ninewells Hospital and Medical School, Dundee but this is not a prerequisite. Travel between the different research nodes and hospitals in the SDRN and to England will be an integral part of this role.
About SDRN: The Scottish Diabetes Research Network (SDRN) is a Chief Scientist Office funded initiative to provide the infrastructure necessary to facilitate diabetes research conducted across Scotland. SDRN has member hospitals and GP sites in every Health Board in Scotland with its main office currently based at Ninewells Hospital & Medical School, Dundee. From the SDRN office, diabetes research is co-ordinated across the whole of Scotland to ensure that all resources are used efficiently. SDRN is part of the UK clinical Research Collaboration (UKCRC)

- High-level project management and organisation skills with a proven ability to deliver multiple tasks to deadlines.
- Skills in preparing and delivering complex presentations, date and reports for a range of audiences.
- IT skills MS Office, the internet and email proficient.
- Ability and willingness to meet the travel requirements of the job, to travel frequently and occasionally spend nights away from home.
- Educated to degree level.
- Evidence of extensive clinical trial research experience including use of GCP and the Research Governance Framework.
- Current ICH-GCP certificate
- Substantial experience in financial management of a budget including providing financial reports and projections.
- Knowledge and experience of the authorisation process for clinical trials.
- The experience of leading and managing staff.
- Knowledge of clinical management of Type I and II diabetes, including current prescribing guidelines and clinical targets, preferred.
- Must be prepared to travel frequently across sites in Scotland and rest of UK.
- Keyboard skills.
- Out of hours work.
