Bandages to Brain Scanners: GCP for Medical Device Studies

12/12/2017 13:30

The UK NHS Research Governance Framework requires that all clinical research is conducted in accordance with the principles of Good Clinical Practice (GCP). GCP has traditionally been the remit of those conducting drug trials, but those conducting research involving medical devices also need to be aware of this important set of research standards and understand their implications for practice. After the workshop, each participant will understand the range of products that fall under the definition of medical devices:

  • understand the range of products that fall under the definition of medical devices
  • be familiar with the regulation of medical devices in the UK by the MHRA
  • understand the implications of the NHS Research Governance Framework
  • be aware of the principles and conditions of Good Clinical Practice
  • know how to put these principles into practice.
