ENRICH Scotland Staff

Dr Emma Law l Co-Chair ENRICH Scotland

In my role as co-chair for ENRICH Scotland, I am actively involved in decisions around how we shape ENRICH Scotland, in partnership with Professor Susan Shenkin, my co-chair and the rest of the team including our full time manager, Dr Maria Drummond, for whom I have direct responsibility for.

This is an exciting and progressive time enabling us to engage with care homes and all those who live, work and visit them in thinking about research and how we can enhance and change practice, using the most up-to-date ideas.

Professor Susan Shenkin l Co-Chair ENRICH Scotland

Susan has been working as a clinical academic in geriatric medicine at the University of Edinburgh and NHS Lothian since 2011, with main interests in cognitive ageing/delirium & dementia, and the health and care of residents and staff of care homes, in particular the role of data and technology. She has skills in data linkage in health and social care, and systematic reviews, and particularly enjoys interdisciplinary working.

Kirsty Hynes l Clinical Studies Officer (Grampian, Shetland)

My name is Kirsty and I am the ENRICH Clinical Studies Officer (CSO) for Grampian and Shetland. I am a registered mental health nurse and prior to ENRICH, my background was in inpatient mental health services, specifically Intensive Psychiatric Care and Forensic mental health care, for both males and females. Having worked in this area since I graduated in 2014, I decided early 2023 that it was time for a total change. I began the post with ENRICH  in February and have been enjoying the variety of opportunities that the job offers.

To date, I have raised the profile of ENRICH in my areas, signed up some interested care homes, re designed the ENRICH banner, and even starred in our ENRICH film! I have also recently enjoyed attending the ENRICH national meeting in Birmingham and the Scottish Dementia Research Consortium conference earlier in the year. Like everyone at ENRICH, I think it is so important that care homes are given the opportunity to participate in Research and in the coming months,  I am looking forward to meeting with more care homes, and working with them on upcoming research projects.

I am particularly interested in assisting in the design of new research projects to maximise the ease of recruiting participants and ensuring the effective capturing of the right data.  I am a GCP facilitator having performed the role in both England and Scotland.  I am an author on several papers with a diverse subject range including peri-operative medicine and digital physiotherapy.
